The age-old tradition of thoroughly cleaning and dusting the mosques has been observed in mosques around the country before the holy month of Ramadan starts in Iran.
Ramadan, the ninth month of the Islamic calendar, is the month when the first verses of the Holy Quran were revealed to Islam’s Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).
The act of fasting and abstaining from eating and drinking in the holy month of Ramadan is aimed at reminding people of the impoverished people and their suffering.
The holy month ends with Eid al-Fitr.
